There were few surprises in the Spring Town Election, where most seats on the town’s boards and commissions were filled by unopposed incumbent candidates.
Groton voters followed a statewide trend in Tuesday’s special primary, choosing veteran Democratic Congressman Edward J. Markey and Republican financier and political novice Gabriel Gomez.
Groton’s State Senator, Eileen Donoghue, thinks Massachusetts could be the world’s prime destination in the summer of 2024. Because the state could be the host to the Summer Olympics.
Tuesday’s election is already unique in that it is a combined special primary for a US Senate seat and a Groton town election. Adding to the interest is that the town election sports two write-in campaigns.
