The state highway department will kick off about 10 days of night paving work Sunday, June 22, scarifying and repaving state route 119 from Littleton to Groton center. Residents will be listening to construction equipment and be driving in one lane for up to 12-14 hours each evening, Tom Delaney, manager of Groton’s Department of Public Works, predicted.
He just received word yesterday, he said this morning. Delaney didn’t have detailed information on how the work would progress yet, but the construction zone will extend to the new I-495 – 119 intersection that has been under construction for more than a year.
The paving process involves grinding off the top layers of blacktop, scarifying, hauling away the debris, and then laying down new pavement.
