Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Groton anymore — Groton’s Boy ScoutTroop 1 on a 72 mile hike through the backcountry of New Mexico at the BSA’s national high adventure camp, Philmont Scout Ranch.

Groton and Dunstable are fortunate to have a very strong scouting program, Groton Troop 1 Boy Scout Leader Dean Marsh writes in a press release.

“With over 200 children currently participating in one of the many groups representing the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts, scouting in Groton is one of the largest youth organizations in the area.

We are happy to announce that all three of the scouting groups are holding spring recruiting drives during the month of April. To support this effort, we will be holding a recruiting night on Wednesday, April 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Middle School North cafeteria. All children currently in Kindergarten and up are welcome to attend with their parents. There will be activities throughout the evening as well as people there to answer any questions.

If you are unable to make it to the recruiting night, but are still interested in learning more about scouting, please give us a call at 978-842-1607 or email us at grotonscouting@gmail.com. We will be happy to contact you and provide you the information necessary for your son or daughter to join Groton/Dunstable scouting.”
