This Friday, October 11, is the last official Farmer’s Market at the Williams Barn for 2013. Because many farmers are still frost free, there’s a great selection of both autumn crops, like squash, pumpkins, potatoes and apples, as well as summer’s finest offerings like sweet corn, tomatoes, spinach and flowers. Fall mums, pears, frozen meats, pasta and sauces, fresh seafood, both ready-to-eat and frozen, cheese, eggs, herbs, bagels and much more await.
It’s easy to stock up now to freeze or preserve this bounty for the long winter ahead. Music this week is by Brian Weeks. The Marklet is held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the field behind the Williams Barn at 160 Chicopee Row in Groton.
In the weeks ahead, if weather permits, some of the farmers will continue to show up on the Williams Barn lawn for an unofficial market, but the town-sponsored official market with the Barn open for tours, the music, and other amenities is over for the season at 6:00 today. Until…
