IncrediBREWdonated the recipe, ingredients, equipment and facility for the Boy Scouts to create bottles of root beer to be sold Saturday, September 21st (or the rain date, September 22nd).
“As an entrepreneur, I like the idea of helping the boys to learn the skills of planning, scheduling, making and marketing a product,” said Dave Williams, owner of IncrediBREW. “They see it takes hard work, dedication and teamwork to earn money for the things they want to do as a Troop. And, it is also fun for the boys.”
Troop 3 was chartered in 1924 to carry out the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, and will be embarking on its 90th year of providing service to the community and outdoor adventure in a stimulating and supportive boy-led Scouting program that enhances self-reliance and intellectual and physical growth. Whether organizing a campout, fundraiser or community service project, Scouts in Troop 3 are given the opportunity to lead activities and learn from the experience to prepare them for life beyond Scouting. In addition to selling root beer and soft pretzels at Grotonfest, Troop 3 will again join Troop 1 and Packs 11 and 12 in recycling and trash collection during the day.
“It took some effort to organize the Scouts to come together to make the root beer in August,” said David Fitzpatrick, Senior Patrol Leader, “but everyone worked hard and we had a lot of fun.”
Williams said, “Some of my best times as a kid were the experiences that I had as a Boy Scout. I hope these kids have the same.”
