Old Sturbridge Village Passes now available at the library! Use this pass for four half-price daytime admissions to visit the living museum in Sturbridge, Massachusetts which re-creates life in rural New England during the 1790s through 1830. Regular admission prices are Adults $24, Youths (3-17) $8, Children 2 and under are free.
We will offer the Higgins Armory pass through Dec. 31, 2013 which is the last chance to visit the exhibits in the famous old building made of steel and glass before it closes! The entire collection will be transferred to and eventually displayed at the Worcester Art Museum, for which GPL also has passes.
Portable DVD players for loan free of charge. Check out DVD players and cases for one week for car rides (the cases attach to the back of car seats for backseat riders), trips (where they can attach to any TV to show a movie), or simply for watching a movie (or listening to a CD – regular or MP3 – the players do that too) in the library.
â€œBeneath the Surfaceâ€ Young Adult Summer Reading Progra.m.Events:
CSI Groton, Thurs, Aug 15, 6-8 pm. Two Groton police officers will teach beginning detective skills like how to approach a crime scene and how to take fingerprints. Then try out your skills with our very own “crime scene” at GPL. Grades 6-12.
Underground Art: Graffiti with Debbie Banna, Wed, Aug 21, 7-8:15 pm. Legal graffiti is done with markers and paper, not spray paint and walls! Culture’s newest art form becomes a class to help kids express themselves.
YA End of Summer Sundae Social!* Thurs, Aug 22, 7-8 pm. Enjoy our sundae bar while you meet with friends to talk about your favorite books, movies, and music or to catch up on what happened this summer and what you are looking forward to this fall. Grades 6-12.

Hands on Nature,*** Wed, Aug 14, 10:30-11:30 am.** Children ages 3 and up discover the secret world of underground mammals in this fun hands-on education progra.m.that includes a story, craft, and a visit from a live animal.

Tanglewood Marionettes presents The Dragon King,* Wed, Aug 14, 7:30-8:30 pm. Colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and a Dragon King that will knock your socks off!
