Walk Off The Earth Plays The Nines! Festival

Groton artists Heather Aziz, Adam Goddard, and Lisa Wiesner are exhibiting this weekend at THE NINES! Festival, a new free-form festival organized in part by 3Rivers Arts, the regional arts group headed up by Groton’s Monica Hinojos and Julie Pampinella. The festival takes place on Willard Field at Devens, on August 10.

Hinojos writes in a press release: “We’re bringing the hottest indie bands — like Walk Off The Earth! — and comedians to perform in a wonderland of art, right in our own backyard. It”s about time Central Massachusetts was recognized as a cultural hub, and we’re proud to be a presenter of The Nines Festival.

Todd Desautels, a professional face painter, will be doing free face and body painting for both adults and children. John Weidman, director of the Andres Institute of Art, a sculpture park open to the public in Brookline, NH, is bringing a rock splitting demonstration where children are invited to participate. There will be interactive mural painting during the festival coordinated by Groton”s NOA gallery. And, of course, there will be jugglers, dancers, and other “spectacle” performers roaming around throughout the afternoon and evening.

This is your chance to see some of the biggest indie bands in the country, plus nationally-known comedians and an amazing art experience, right here in Central MA! 3Rivers Arts is honored to present the work of these artists at The Nines Festival:

We have a unique opportunity to bring the spotlight to 3Rivers Arts, as local, regional and national attention begins to focus on the Nines Festival.  This media attention can help 3Rivers Arts to become a thriving, financially stable organization.  However, we need to prime the pump to make that happen.  If we lose this momentum at this very point in time, we might not get a second chance. This is our challenge to the friends, supporters and audiences of 3Rivers Arts.  We are in dire need of general operating funds in order to make our presence at the Nines, an unforgettable experience that widens our audience, build partnerships, and helps us increase participation in all our various fundraisers.

We’re bringing the hottest indie bands — like Walk Off The Earth! — and comedians to perform in a wonderland of art, right in your own backyard. It”s about time Central Massachusetts was recognized as a cultural hub, and we’re proud to be a presenter of The Nines Festival.
