The snow’s melted, daffodils and tulips are blooming, and Groton’s Nashoba Paddler opens — spring is here!

The Groton canoe and kayak livery on State Route 225 at the Nashua River bridge officially opens this Saturday, May 4.

Owner Pete Carson wrote in a press release, “We have expanded our tour offerings this year. Tours are an excellent opportunity for people with little or no paddling experience to get on the river. Our guides are naturalists as well as American Canoe Association certified instructors who are there to share their knowledge of the river and help you with your paddling, if you need it. Our first tour, Spring Birding by Canoe/Kayak, is less than two weeks away (May 11) on the easy-to-paddle Squannacook River.”

Nashoba Paddler is offering a special discount for Groton residents this weekend. Canoe or single kayak rentals on May 4th and 5th are just 10$ an hour, (5$ for each additional half hour). Just show a license with your Groton address,” Carson said.
