Despite today’s foot+ snow, the 12th Annual Taste of Nashoba will be held this evening in the Stone Athletic Center at Lawrence Academy in Groton from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Organized by the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce, President and CEO Melissa Fetterhoff said that this year’s event promises to be the biggest best ever, “We have 37 vendors, which is the most vendors we’ve had in our 12 years!”
Ina press release, she wrote “The event is a community favorite that draws a large crowd of local patrons and “foodies” from the Nashoba Valley and well beyond. The Taste of Nashoba a is not only a wonderful culinary experience but also a highly regarded competition amongst a mix of restaurateurs, caterers, bakers, confectioners, and educational facilities who strive for a title in one or more of the categories of Best Appetizer, Best Entrée, Best Dessert, Best Drink, and Best Overall Presentation. The winners are chosen by attendees, not judges, who sample various menu items and cast their vote.
“Voting is very important to the success of the event,” Fetterhoff said. “We’ve made the process easier this year with a bracelet for voters to simply remove a tab to place their vote at the table rather than writing out and passing in ballot.” Many winners such as Nashoba Technical High School in Westford, MA and Bailey’s Bar & Grille of Townsend, MA proudly display their winner’s plaque(s) at their location and title(s) on their websites.
“The Taste of Nashoba is a big deal,” Executive Chef and General Manager Robert Stea of Dolce Wood Fired Italian Grille in Pepperell said. “It’s an opportunity to showcase what we’re all about and a chance to be recognized by the community. The event is well-known in the area and winning in any category gives notoriety to the establishment – street cred. so to speak.”

Joel, the last press release I got from them came in last Tuesday and it says: “Tickets are available at the door for $25.00 or in advance for $20.00,”
They may have changed the at-the-door price since then, but they haven’t sent new info.
