Plans for celebrating this milestone include a breakfast with Liz Walker, an award-winning television journalist, documentary film producer and humanitarian, on March 21st. An advocate for women, Liz is the perfect person to kick off the year as well as the annual Women Build project which will take place the week before Mother”s Day. The breakfast event will highlight the many affiliate accomplishments in the last quarter century and corporate sponsors of the breakfast include Rollstone Bank, Exit Realty, Attorney David Rocheford, Foley and Lardner, New Harbor Financial Group, Leominster Credit Union, and Bookkeeping Express. Invitations to the event can be acquired through the Habitat NCM office (978.348.2749, email@example.com, or www.ncmhabitat.org).
Other plans for the year include completion of a record number of five homes, an expansion of rehabilitation projects for existing homeowners in need of handicap accessibility as well as a 25th anniversary dinner in the fall.
“We are very excited about celebrating our anniversary and know it”s a significant milestone to have reached,†stated Maggie Monroe-Cassel, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts. “We have increased our building efforts in the last year to help more local families and have been encouraged by the generous support of our many corporate, individual and civic sponsors who share our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.â€
Habitat for Humanity NCM offers a hand up, not a hand out to hard-working, low-income central Massachusetts families seeking affordable homeownership. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat NCM builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner partner families. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners” monthly mortgage payments are then used to build still more Habitat houses.
Volunteers who want to work on Habitat houses throughout north central Massachusetts can sign up by visiting the Habitat website at www.ncmhabitat.org and clicking on the Volunteer tab or by calling 978-348-2749. Volunteers are also welcome to work with families, help in the office, and fill many other behind-the-scenes needs.Related
