Congratulations to Rachel McCarron as she added another honor to her illustrious career by scoring 1,000 points last night. She is only the 2nd girls basketball player in the history of the school to do so. Perhaps most importantly, she has achieved this goal with humility and an unselfishness that belies the record. Way to go Rachel.
Swim Team Results

After dealing with the disappointment of a cancelled Sectional meet due to the blizzard, 7 girls of the Tyngsboro Groton-Dunstable swim team went straight to the Division 1 State Championship meet this past Saturday where they displayed some very fast swimming, scored points in 9 out of 12 entered races and walked away with 93 points and a 9th place team finish.
Caleigh Dion took 4th place in the 100 freestyle, and 12th in the 200 freestyle. Sarah Francisco took 13th place in both the 200 IM and the 500 free. Johanna Fischi was 10th in the 50 free and 16th in the 100 free. Renee Bonnett finished 17th in the 50 free and 14th in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 freestyle relay team of Sarah Rasmussen, Renee Bonnett, Sarah Francisco and Caleigh Dion took 6th place. The highlight of the meet was the 400 freestyle relay where the team of Johanna Fischi, Renee Bonnett, Sarah Francisco and Caleigh Dion dropped 10 seconds from their previous best and finished in 5th place. Jillian Onishi and Lauren Duhamel deserve to be recognized for their amazing performance in the relay race.
The progress made over the course of the last three seasons is truly remarkable. Just two short years ago the team finished with 2 points and landed in 28th place. Last year the team scored 50 points and finished in 14th place. This year, with many of the same team members, the team scored 93 points and finished in 9th place. Congratulations on a great season!

For those of us with inquiring minds, who was the other athlete to accomplish this? And Congratulations to Miss McCarron!
Good question! I’ve forwarded it to Michael Mastrullo, principal of the high school and the author of that article.
