Donoghue Appointed Chair of MA Senate Committee on Community Development and Small Business

(BOSTON, MA) – Thursday, January 31, 2013 – The State Senate announced its committee appointments at the end of session today, appointing Senator Eileen Donoghue as Chair of the Joint Committee on Community Development & Small Business.

Senator Donoghue will also serve as Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, as well as Member of the Senate Committee on Ways & Means, Senate Committee on Post Audit & Oversight, Joint Committee on Economic Development & Emerging Technologies, and Joint Committee on Telecommunications Utilities & Energy.

The Joint Committee on Community Development & Small Business handles matters concerning mercantile establishments, the establishment of economic districts and local planning commissions, urban renewal, and other matters similar in nature.

I believe that my new focus on community development and higher education will allow me to effectively serve both the Commonwealth, and a district where small business serves as the backbone of a growing local economy.”
