Meet Vanessa

Meet Vanessa Abraham, new Library Director at the Groton Public Library, at a reception on Sat, Feb 2, from 10 am – 12 noon on the third floor of the library.  The library will be open for regular services. Free and open to all.

Margaret Fuller: American Icon, Sun, Jan 27, 2-3:30 pm. Nancy LeMay, former Fruitlands docent, will speak on Margaret Fuller: feminist, journalist, author, Groton resident, friend of Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalists. Made possible by Town of Groton’s Trust Funds’ Lecture Fund. Free and open to all.

Groton’s Richard Meibers discusses his novel Falling Off the Wind, Tues, Jan 29, 7-8:30 pm. This is the final novel in Meibers’ Scheutz trilogy which begins with Steal Away Home, followed by Tree Rings. Free and open to all.

Meet Julia Child! presented by the Delvena Theatre Company,* Sun, Feb 3, 2-4 pm. The Groton Woman’s Club & the GPL Endowment co-sponsor this live edutainment performance featuring “Julia Child” doing what she did best! Free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.

Feasting with Recipes Then and Now: 1910 to Present by Chef Liz Barbour, Tues, Feb 5, 7-8:30 pm. This program includes a slide show plus cooking demonstration and samples. Registration required!

YA Happenings

Hot Books, Hot Chocolate! Book Group for Grades 6-9, Thurs, Feb 7, 7:30-8:30 pm. A Dog’s Purpose by Bruce Cameron is the remarkable story of one endearing dog’s search for his purpose over several life times. Join us for talk and treats.

For Children

Drop-In Playgroup & Social Hour, Fri, Jan 25, 10:30-11:30 am. An informal wintertime gathering for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents and caregivers. This is a wonderful opportunity to socialize, connect, and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate from the GPL Café (mid-level) for $1 per cup!

Creative Movement Class for Preschoolers, Fri, Feb 1, 10:30-11:15 am. Dancing, music, stretching and fun with hoops and beanbags for children from 2 ½ to 5 years old.*

Tales and Tunes for Tots,* Fri, Feb 8, 10:30-11:15 am. ** Music and lots of fun for infants and preschoolers with Amy Conly.
