The holidays are a festive time at the Groton Senior Center. The season got off to a great start December 7 when Groton Girl Scout Junior Troop 66109 and Julettes arrived to help decorate the Christmas tree, an annual tradition for the troop. The girls put the tree together, baked plates of cookies for the Seniors, and presented the center with a collection of new ornaments the girls gathered to ‘freshen up the tree’ and replace worn and broken decorations.According to Troop leader Deb Mendel, three of the girls did this as part of their Journey badge and the whole troop participated as a community service project.

Yesterday, December 19th, the center’s annual holiday party kicked off with lunch courtesy of the Groton Women’s club. Then a big bus provided by Groton’s Buckingham Bus Company pulled up and the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School Select Choir flooded into the building to sing at the party. The group was led by director Tim Savoy and “The students were absolutely amazing and sang a mix of traditional hymns and some more up-tempo songs as well,” Bethan Loveless, Volunteer and Activity Coordinator for the Groton Council on Aging, said.
