Ella Karat knows how to mom — and also knows the problems of getting kids where they’re supposed to be — getting them safely picked up after school and dropped off at important after-school activities. As she shuttled kids between soccer practice, music lessons, and tutoring, a bright idea light bulb lit up her SUV. And Groton’s newest business, Groton Mom Chaperone Service, was off and rolling down Route 119.
She wrote in a press release announcing her business, “Our days as moms are filled with carpool, shuffling kids from one location to the next and often it feels like we spend more hours in our car, driving, than we do at home. Even unexpected late meetings, missed trains and even last-minute business trips for mothers are business as usual and very stressful.”
She says she started her chaperone service so that kids can be accompanied from school to home safely. “This service is going to grow into more support for Groton mothers so they can have options to help their kids attend more activities. Parents want their kids to attend after-school activities for development reasons, and they need another mother they can trust to make sure their kids can attend such activities.”
Karat hopes her new business will become the local go-to safety net for moms. “This service is going to grow into more support for Groton mothers so they can have options to help their kids attend more activities.”
