Nine Lessons and Carols at Groton School
Mike Sperling
Groton residents are welcome at the Groton School’s Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols originated in England in 1880 and has been a Groton School tradition since 1928. The service, often referred to as a “Devotion of Christmas,” is offered by most cathedrals and large churches in England. At Groton, the service takes place in St. John’s Chapel, a Gothic Revival masterpiece built in 1900.
