Groton-Dunstable’s football team made mincemeat on Thanksgiving, chopping up Tyngsborough 34-6 to win the high school’s first league championship title since the football program began five years ago. Tyngsborough went into the match undefeated; G-D only lost one game this season.

Matt Manning scored three touchdowns, and Quinton Forbes caught two more TD passes from Mack Eberhardt to score big points. Kicker Corey Romich nailed four of five extra points to boost the total score.

GROTON — On paper, this one had the makings of a holiday classic, and a shootout to boot.

Tyngsboro roared into this one sporting a 10-0 record while averaging 28.2 points per game. Groton-Dunstable countered at 9-1, while scoring exactly one point more than the Tigers over the course of the season.

All the ingredients were there for a Thanksgiving classic, but the Crusaders made mincemeat of that notion, putting together a dominating performance on both sides of the ball that resulted in a convincing 34-6 victory. read the rest of the story.
