More than 300 people from Groton, Ayer, Harvard and neighboring towns made Groton-based 3Rivers Art’s first big gala fundraiser a roaring success last Friday night. The theme was a twist on 2012’s end of the Mayan Calendar, a celebration of new beginnings and the launch a new era of arts and culture in the region with a little mystery, a bit of otherworldly festivity, and “a whole lotta style.” The night’s events include a cocktail reception with signature Tres Rios cocktails, a seated dinner with a Mayan flair, pop-up art gallery, silent auction, “end-of-the-world” photobooth, and plenty of dancing and mingling.
“No particular project is to be funded at this time, but several are under consideration,” according to Julie Pampinella, 3Rivers Arts director of public relations. “Since it’s our first fundraiser, we’re strengthening the organization across the board. Raised funds allow us to build upon and improve existing programs, establish new partnerships, and develop new opportunities for artists. We’re in the planning stage for 2013!”
