Obituary: Fredrick C. Bond

Frederick C. Bond, 86, of Groton, died at Apple Valley center in Ayer on November 7, 2012. He was born in Arlington, MA on February 16, 1926, son of the late Albert and Signe Johnson Bond. Fred spent his early life in Arlington and then came to Groton. He graduated from Groton High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines at General MacArthur’s headquarters. After the war, he entered Bentley College and graduated in 1948 with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. Fred worked for J.P. Sullivan Corporation in Ayer for more than 60 years as accountant and treasurer.

A longtime resident of Groton who lived on Main Street, Fred served on the Groton-Dunstable Regional School Committee, School Building Committee, was a Corporator of North Middlesex Savings Bank, and was a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of Nashoba Credit Union. He loved playing golf, gardening, and being with his family.

Bond is survived by his wife, Helene Livingston Bond of Groton; son David and his wife Katherine Bond of Temple, NH.; daughter Nancy and her husband Roy MacGregor of Groton; four grandchildren, Molly Bond, Samantha Bond, Peter MacGregor, and Kyle MacGregor. He was the brother of the late Albert G. Bond Jr.

A graveside service will be held at the Groton Cemetery, Groton MA, on Monday, November 12 at 2 p.m. There will be no visiting hours.
