International Thespian Society
By Christine Olson
Six new students were inducted into GD’s chapter of the International Thespian Society. Students joining the International Thespian Society must demonstrate their commitment to the theater program at GD. In addition, each student is required to perform ten community service hours. Last year the twelve thespian members logged more than 300 hours of service as assistant directors, stage managers, make-up artists, set construction and clean up projects. With a profound sense of excellence these students greatly con tribute to theater at GD. Congratulations to the newest members of ITS!
A Night of Greeks
Groton-Dunstable Arts Boosters
By Kathleen Phelps
From the corridors and classrooms of G-DRHS to the worldwide stage of the London Olympics, Groton-Dunstable students are involved in all aspects of the arts.
Rehearsals are underway for the Drama Guild’s “Night of Greeks” in a few weeks
Visual artists are working on items for the first-ever Holiday Sale in December
Drama Guild and Gay Straight Alliance and Drama will partner to present “The Laramie Project”
Musicians and singers are practicing for the widely-anticipated annual Winter Concert
These musicians, artists and performers need help from the community to support their creativity. If you have a student involved in the arts, or your own interest in theater, music or visual arts, you can be a valuable resource for students and teachers at GD. The GD Arts Boosters is a group started by interested parents to provide both guidance and financial support for music, drama and visual arts at GD.
Parent and community members are invited to an informational meeting on Monday, November 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Ceramics Studio in room 218.
For more information, see our Facebook Page: GD Arts Activities or contact [email protected].
