Groton Police Chief Donald Palma, who also heads up the town's emergency management team, said that planning for the storm has started: "We are ramping up now and that will consume most of the remainder of the day today and into tomorrow. We (Groton Public Safety) will be ready for whatever gets sent our way."

Hurricane Sandy Creeps Up The Coast
Is Halloween in Groton being haunted by storms? Last year we had the Halloween Blizzard, this year it looks we have a good chance of hosting a Halloween Hurricane.
This morning’s 5-day forecasts are showing Hurricane or Tropical Storm Sandy approaching Boston after midnight Monday or early Tuesday morning, and then pushing on northerly… toward Groton. Long-range forecasts are notoriously unreliable, but a hurricane is pretty large, so there’s going to be some impact.
