Nashoba Valley Medical Center is hosting a 5k Hunger Run road race To benefit Loaves & Fishes food pantry as part of the hospital’s Family Health and Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The Hunger Run will begin at 9:00 a.m. and travel along the scenic back roads of Ayer and Groton. The race will finish back at Nashoba Valley Medical Center where a Family Health and Harvest Festival awaits. Children are encouraged to dress in their favorite Halloween costumes and enjoy the “Kids-in-Costumes Half Mile Run.” Walkers are also welcome. The cost to register for the 5k race is $20.00. The half mile run and walkers” fee is $5.00 All proceeds from the event will benefit Loaves and Fishes, a non-profit organization that provides food and support to those in need. Runners are asked to bring one nonperishable food item for Loaves and Fishes. You can register online for the runs at www.active.com. The first 100 runners to register will receive a long sleeve tee-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for 1st place male and 1st place female. The Family Health and Harvest Festival beings at 10:00 a.m. and the festivities will continue until 2:00 p.m.

The Family Health and Harvest Festival will have something for everyone: music, food, and children”s activities. There will be numerous informational booths providing educational resources and materials on health-related topics including diabetes, sleep apnea, wound care, orthopedics, physical therapy, audiology, cardiology, occupational health, travel safety and much more! Free health screenings, chair massages, and fitness demonstration will also be offered. This is a community event not to be missed! Admission to the event is free and open to the public. All are welcome rain or shine on the campus of Nashoba Valley Medical Center located at 200 Groton Road, Ayer, MA.
