Groton and commuters who pass through town on State Route 119 can get ready to say “Goodbye!” to the National Grid crews who have been replacing a deteriorating gas main — and tying up Main Street traffic — for most of the summer.
“The gas work will be done this week. Before the end of the fall, a paving crew will be coming in to put in more permanent paving before winter hits. We don’t know how soon after the gas work finishes that the paving will start but it will be before November in order for them to complete it in time,” according to National Grid spokesperson Charlotte McCormack.
