DEVENS – The Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with MediaNews Group, will host debates for candidates in the 5th Congressional District and the Middlesex and Worcester State Senate District on October 10 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Devens. The debates will begin at 7 p.m. with a debate between candidates for the Middlesex and Worcester State Senate District, which does not include Groton: State Sen. Jamie Eldridge, D-Acton, and challenger Dean Cavaretta, R-Stow.
But the 8 p.m. debate has an impact in Groton. U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, D-Lowell, will face challenger Jon Golnik, R-Carlisle, in a debate moderated by Dr. Daniel M. Asquino, president of Mount Wachusett Community College. The 5th Congressional District includes Groton and 28 other cities and towns across parts of Middlesex, Essex and Worcester counties.
The debates are free and open to the general public, which is also invited to submit in advance suggested questions for the candidates. Suggested questions should be emailed to [email protected] and will be reviewed by the moderator and event organizers prior to the debates. There is no guarantee a suggested question will be included in the debate.
