Tales From The Hive Screening 09/27
The story of honeybees is one of the most amazing stories in all of nature. Whether you’re currently a beekeeper or considering getting hives of your own, or are just someone who is interested in the myriad ways that life has evolved in order to thrive in every niche of this planet, this stunning film is for you.
NOVA chronicles a complete year in the life of a honeybee colony and takes viewers inside the innermost secrets of the hive. A vivid picture emerges of a honeybee’s highly-organized social life, revolving around the disciplined sharing of construction tasks, the collection of nectar, the making of honey, and the warding off of enemies, plus many other fascinating aspects of honeybee society. For example, using endoscopic optics and a 26-foot tower, the filmmaker was able to gather close-ups of bees in flight and the rarely seen mating of a queen and drone.
