
Theron “Gene” Truax
Gene Joined the Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict until 1956. He met and married his wife, Dorothy, in 1957. Theron has made his home in Groton since 1957 and worked at the Hartnett Tannery in Ayer as a color matcher. He then worked as a machine operator and Hollingsworth and Vose in West Groton from 1961 until his retirement in 1996. He liked fishing and watching sports, especially the New England Patriots.
Truax is survived by his wife, Dorothy Blood Truax of Groton; four sons: Theron Truax Jr. of Groton, Kenneth Truax of Townsend, Michael Truax of Fountain Hill, AZ, and Dan Truax of Westminster. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Frances Storey of Coudersport, PA, Ernest Truax of Belfast, NY, Milford Truax of Batavia, NY, Duane Truax of Townsend Winston Truax of Wellsville, NY and Lorraine Caldwell of Wellsville, NY, the late James Truax, and the late Ralph Truax.
He is also survived by his grandchildren TJ, Harley, Hunter, Joe, Mathew, Madison, Brandon, Meghan, Mina, Dillon, Abby, and Damien; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Owen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton. Funeral services with be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Groton Cemetery, Groton.
