Annette McGreevy Bucken

Annette McGreevy Bucken passed away August 30, 2012 while surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Annie was born in Burlington, Vermont on November 26th, 1953, to Harriet and Paul McGreevy, the first of six children. She has lived the last 16 years in Pepperell, Massachusetts.

“Mrs. Bucken” was a beloved and dedicated teacher. Starting off as a teacher’s aide in the pre-school classroom of her daughter Irene, she taught first grade students for 12 years at the Country Day School of the Holy Union in Groton, Massachusetts. She thereby secured a place where she could be near her daughter all day until she graduated. Annie loved to compose poetry and write short stories to the delight of many, particularly family. She was the only dedicated Yankees fan that her Massachusetts neighbors couldn’t help but love. At Our Lady of Grace Parish she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a catechist in the religious education program, a committed member of the RCIA team that is dedicated to the education and mentoring of those who enquire about the Catholic faith, and advocate for the good of the community.

Annie was predeceased by her mother, Harriet Daley McGreevy; sister-in-law Maureen Bucken and Dave Taddeo (Nancy). She is survived by her husband Thomas, and daughter Irene; her father and step-mother, Paul and Annetta; her siblings, Kathleen Snoddon of Greenwich, CT (Larry), Sharon Rittling of Richmond, VT (Trum), Paul McGreevy of Albany, NY (Patsy), Jennifer Brownell of Richmond, VT (George), Neil McGreevy of Troy, NY (Dianna); in-laws Ann Wolf of Falmouth, MA (Ted), Michael Bucken of Milford Mass (Cindy), Patti Timmeny of Londonderry, NH (John), Nancy Bucken of Falmouth, MA and Jackie Bucken of Standish, ME (Michael); nieces and nephews Elizabeth, Sarah, Emily, Harriett, Joseph, Ryan, Hilary, Maggie, Zoe, Paul, Maureen, Minal, Caitlin, Erin, Thomas, Kevin and Jessica; great-nephews Lucas, Carter, Caleb, Conner; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hamilton-McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main Street (Route 113) in Pepperell MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at St. Joseph’s Church, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell, MA. (In order to allow faculty and families the opportunity to attend the funeral, Country Day School of the Holy Union will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 5th. — Ed.) Graveside services will be held Friday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Park Cemetery on Hinesburg Road in South Burlington VT.

Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to Country Day School of the Holy Union, 14 Main Street, Groton MA, 01450; 978-448-5646. Donations will be used for classroom supplies. Please see www.mcgaffiganfuneral.com for full details.
