Dear Selectmen,
Tonight I received a call via voice mail from Selectman Jack Petropoulos commenting that my petition (To stop construction of a new Central Fire Station on a Famer’s Row site owned by the Lawrence Homestead Trust, as approved at Spring Town Meeting — Ed.) “may not be worded acceptably.”
So I write to you and all the people to whom I will repost this letter, that the state of Democracy in this country is in failure mode. The petition with the intent of status as a warrant article at the next Town meeting is written with clear intent and purpose. How do I know? I wrote it. The text will follow here as a postscript for all to judge. I am a graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelors of Foreign Service, and a graduate of Thunderbird University with a Masters in Business Administration in international business. I have worked as a paralegal and a copywriter.
If this text is not accepted by the Selectmen as a petition meriting placement as a warrant article at the next Town meeting, it will be a sad reflection on our State of the Union. It will be a microcosm example of the statement: “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
I know your personal position on this matter whether attributed to your own personal opinion or an opinion truly buffeted by the tides of local politics and the pressure of the fire department and its chief, is not in favor of this petition seeking status as a warrant article at the next Town meeting.
However I will tell you now, that if you do not approve this petition for status as a Warrant Article at the next Town meeting, you all are not deserving of your Selectmen status. And I will do everything in my power as a Citizen to strip you of your title.
Regards,

P.S. As you all know, the wording may be amended on the floor at the time of the Town meeting. Although surely it should not be necessary to remind you of such facts.

Anyone who boasts about their education the way you do should know in the modern era of email and computers that there is no need for a post script as you should be able to edit the text before you send it to include the additional information; unless the intent is to be more dramatic.
Exactly who is trying to be dramatic here????
