Mars rover Curiosity should land August 5
Outer space, from Star Wars to Mars, is the theme for a week or so at the Groton Public Library. All Star Wars fans, ages 5 and up with parents are invited to a Star Wars Symposium with enthusiast Peter Struzziero this Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to noon. You can come dressed as a character for the costume contest, bring your show-and-tell items, learn about the history of Star Wars, join in a trivia contest, play video games, and more! There will be prizes! Families are welcome and parents can dress up too.
Then the Aldrich Astronomical Society will present all latest news on Mars at the Groton Public Library on Thursday, August 9 from 7-8 p.m., thanks to the GPL Endowment Trust. Kids in grades 5 and up and parents are invited to mark the August 5 landing of the Mars rover Curiosity and watch the society’s fascinating slide show and explore hands-on displays about the human exploration of Mars.
