Groton will wish the members of the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School Chamber Chorus “Bon Voyage” on August 1 when the group leaves for London and the 2012 Summer Olympics.

After winning numerous regional competitions for several years, the G-DRHS Chamber Chorus was invited to sing at the Olympics last August. The group’s web site states: “We have worked hard over the past year and raised the $130,000 needed to make sure the whole “team” could benefit from this wonderful opportunity. They will be performing in several venues within the Olympic Park, as well as other well-known sites in London, such as Canterbury Cathedral. You can join us at GD High School between 1pm and 2pm on Aug 1 to send them off to London.”

In an e-mail, spokesperson Pam Jarboe suggested that residents “Can make signs and bring flags and send off the Chamber for their historic trip to London for the Olympics. A police cruiser will escort the bus out of town. Thanks to all who have supported the Chamber to come to this moment. It is such an exciting time and I am sure they will make all of you proud. Thank you again for your encouragement and support. We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful and talented town!”
