Perfect weather — sunny blue skies with white puffball clouds and temperatures in the 80s — helped draw several hundred people to Sunday’s Groton Greenway River Festival. Exhibitors included the Greenway Committee, Massachusetts Department of Wildlife, Groton Local, the Nashua River Watershed Association, and other groups; with music by Snow Crow, The Pebble Bottomed River Kids, and Native American drummers.
Daniel Hunter won the cardboard canoe race, paddling a solo boat in two heats and staying afloat longer than any of the 15 competing cardboard-and-duct-tape craft — all the other soggy craft disappeared into the Nashua River, their crews paddling as they sank.

It was such a beautiful day to have the Riverfest. All that were there seemed to have a great time. Thank you, Marion Stoddard, Pete Carson and all the others who helped to pull it off. I know you all put in a lot of hard work. Also, thank you to all the people/businesses that sponsored the event. With luck, we’ll see you again next year! ~ Lorena Novak
