When Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and Union Congregational Church of Groton decided to team up for the upcoming “Babylon: Daniel’s Courage in Captivity” Vacation Bible School (VBS) on July 30 – Aug. 3, the two churches also chose to offer it free of charge.
“We feel it is important to provide families in Groton and neighboring towns with access to a wholesome, fun and enriching program at no cost. It’s one of the best ways we can serve the community, particularly during tough economic times,” Margaret Doyle, the 2012 VBS director, said.
VBS runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon and is open to children entering pre-K (age 4) up to 5th grade. Experienced staff members, all CORI certified, will lead music and skits each morning, followed by small group activities that include games, crafts, storytelling, science, and snacks. It will take place at Union Congregational Church, 218 Main Street, Groton. Space is limited. Registration forms are available at the churches’ web-sites: *www.uccgroton.org* and www.sov-lc.org.
