I am writing this letter to endorse Jack Petropoulos for Selectman.
Jack’s energy, commitment, and focus on results are evident in his leadership as the Chairman of the Groton Center Fire Station Building Committee. As one of the more challenging issues facing Groton, a successful site selection was far from easy. The Committee’s analysis, debate and recommendation process carried its share of political and organizational challenges. In consideration of all details, Jack worked in strong conjunction with others on the Committee and within the Town government to get it right. It is my humble opinion that Jack’s understanding of not just the larger site selection issues, but also his demand for excellent communication, detailed clarity, and his specific commitment to proper process that won the day. With Jack’s leadership, Groton has successfully navigated and achieved what once seemed an impossible challenge — to unite the community in a site selection.
Often our federal, state, and local governments are saddled with career politicians who, through the sheer amount of time spent in the system, become agents of intransigence and promoters of some tired ways. Every once in a while a community is lucky enough to have a talented, committed, and fresh voice step forward to lead. One that is aged and wise enough to bring critical perspective and still young enough to marshal all the energy required to work with a community to meet its most challenging engagements. Jack is that leader.
Jack Petropoulos has a most incorruptible sense of ‘getting it right.’ A humble and honest man, Jack thinks ahead, looks around corners, and asks the tough, necessary questions that others may not.
There are moments when a candidate’s historical experience and an affinity to remain engaged in traditional politics, are all that are needed. Right now, our challenges demand fresh leadership with character, energy, and capacity to communicate that are seldom found in the right combination. Groton is lucky enough to have found that combination in Jack. Jack Petropoulos embodies what is needed now, and he is without question the right man for this job.
With strong expectations that Groton, and her people will greatly benefit from Jacks presence on the Board of Selectmen I respectfully request your vote in his favor.
