The Nashua River Watershed Association is offering a free public presentation on “Ovenbirds and Forest Conservation” on Thursday, April 19, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the NRWA River Resource Center, 592 Main Street (Rt. 119) in Groton. Our speaker will be Dr. David Morimoto from Lesley University. Dr. Morimoto has made a study of Ovenbirds to determine if local forest fragmentation is having an effect on their pairing and breeding success. The Ovenbird, a member of the warbler family, is one of many local songbirds that breeds in our area and migrates to Central America for the winter, a neo-tropical migrant. Learn about the natural history and behavior of the Ovenbird, and what it is telling us about municipal planning, forest conservation, and forest management. This program is free and open to the public; pre-registration is appreciated for planning purposes, but is not required. For more information, please contact Mark Archambault, NRWA Smart Growth Circuit Rider, at (978) 448-0299, or email [email protected]. The NRWA is a non-profit environmental organization that depends on memberships for support.
