On the threshold of another new year, Groton Local to gather, again, on the day set aside to honor the late Martin Luther King, Jr., to celebrate being a community. At the annual Celebration of Community on Monday, January 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Groton’s historic Grange Hall, 80 Champney Street, we will introduce Groton Local’s 2012 theme, “Re-think!” and watch a few short videos together, share discussion and good food, and imagine a year of possibilities/activities.

Whether you are new to the area or long-established, politically “purple, red or blue,” parents, empty-nesters, singles, worried or optimistic about the future, Groton Local welcomes your participation. This non-profit is comprised of ordinary folk who believe in mustering positive, proactive responses to global and local challenges. Groton Local collaborates with others to build a strong community, to improve our ability to feed ourselves and others, to support local agriculture and business, to lessen our dependence on scarce resources, and to educate ourselves – to name a few priorities. Important, too, is enjoying time spent together!

This potluck event is free, open, and accessible to all. Bring your favorite savory appetizer, sweet ending (finger foods preferred) or non-alcoholic beverage to share. Come, renew your Groton Local membership, or join! Door prizes will include one year’s dues. As is our custom, non-perishable foods, toiletries, or large-sized diapers will be collected for Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry (see www.devenspantry.org for most-needed items). For more information and/or to volunteer at the event, call 978-448-8398.

See you January 16,
Tiffany Doggett, Sally Hensley, Tucker Smith, Bobbie Spiegelman, and Chris Thompson
Groton Local, Officers
