Howard was employed by the General Electric Company in Pittsfield, MA during WW II, where he worked in conjunction with the Department of Naval Operations. He also worked at G.E. plants in Schenectady, NY and Fitchburg, MA before retiring from the company after 43 years’ service.
Howard was a dedicated and active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield, MA; St. John’s Lutheran Church in Altamont, NY; Union Congregational Church in Groton, MA; and Community Congregational Church in New Port Richey, FL where he and his wife, Helen, wintered for the last 20 years. During his church years he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served on many boards and committees. He was also an active member of The Groton Lions Club after he retired.
Howard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Heidel Misselhorn of Ayer; his daughter, Barbara Wyman of Maynard and her husband, Bruce Wyman; his daughter, Karen Sherwin of Ayer and her husband, Bradford Sherwin. He is also survived by his nephew and several nieces. He was predeceased by his son, James Paul Misselhorn; his brother, Edwin Misselhorn, of Indiana; and his sister, Pauline Misselhorn Adams, of Indiana.
Visiting hours are Sunday, November 6, from 3-5 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton, MA. A memorial service wi11 be held on Monday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Congregation Church, 218 Main Street, Groton, MA.
