Thelma Willard Hamilton

PEPPERELL — Thelma (Willard) Hamilton 85, of Pepperell and formerly of Groton, died at Apple Valley Center in Ayer on August 18. She was born in Leominster on September 9, 1925 daughter of the late Fred and Marion (Carter) Willard. She grew up in Belmont and was a graduate of Belmont High School in 1943. Thelma married her husband, Roland, in 1945. They made their home in Lexington, Bedford, in Groton for 30 years, and in Pepperell for the past 26 years.

Thelma worked at Liberty Mutual when she was younger and volunteered at Nashoba Hospital in Ayer for many years. She enjoyed knitting and reading, volunteered for the Red Cross during WW II and was a Lifetime Blood Donor. She was also a member of Willard Family Association.

Her survivors include her husband, Roland Hamilton of Pepperell; three daughters: Marcia and her husband Kim Buckingham of Townsend, Susan and her husband Nick Roberts of Groton, and Christine and her husband Joseph Griffin of Hubbardston; three sons: Roland Hamilton of Waukesha, WI.; Jeffrey and his wife Pam Hamilton of Mesa, AZ; and James Hamilton of Tyngsboro MA. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, including her grandson, Stephen, who predeceased her; and 18 great-grandchildren and two due in September and October.

Visiting hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton on Tuesday, August 23 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Groton Senior Center, 163 W.
